Bobby Darin an icon in music, he was very talented as a singer and also as an actor. I love the movie Come September where he met Sandra Dee, they had lots of chemistry together. They made a beautiful couple. Bobby will always be remembered, he was one in a million, when God made Bobby he broke the mold for in music today nobody can’t compare to this incredible talented man.

554. Frank McQuade. - 2012-11-15 22:24:10
As a vocalist/performer for 60 years I had always regarded Bobby as one of the very top vocalist/performers of all time.
At the moment in my lounge room I am currently playing one of Bobby’s CDs, the second of the morning. Listening as I have I took particular notice of how he was singing I LEFT MY HEART IN SAN FRANCISCO. It was vocal perfection. I have been singing professionally for 60 years and still I learn. I just received the best lesson I have ever had.
The next time I teach a young person I am going to play this disk over and over until the student can hear what I hear. PERFECTION. Mr Sinatra had it. Bobby had it in droves.

The vocal tone, phrasing, & delivery - faultless, whatever the gendre of the song, jazzy, rock, ballad or whatever.
Simple Song of Freedom - even more relevant today, it’s like he wrote it knowing it was for then and now! I really wish that I had written it!!!
526. larry lindbloom - 2012-09-20 13:52:53

Last evening I was sitting around playing some great tunes, came across "Look At Me" which I had never heard before..this song made the hair on my arm stand up...crazy GOOD!! short song..sung with perfection. Written with honesty!! Blew me away..played it 10 times. I think it’s true what has been speculated about Bobby Darin...he knew something that most of us will never see or know...I would have liked to have known him. Hands down my favorite Darin Tune!!

I began watching and admiring Mr. Darin on the Ed Sullivan Show. This man was a singer’s singer, a humanitarian and a fabulous performer. He was the epitome of cool. I am so glad that I have lived long enough to participate in this tribute page for him. Being a rheumatic child, I always felt connected to this great man. RIP.

Absolutely love Bobby Darin. Always liked Mack the Knife but have just begun listening to his other songs. One of my new favorites is "Once Upon a Time". Check out the video he made in London where he sings this song. So emotional. Just watched "Pressure Point" last night with Sidney Poitier. Incredible and he more than holds his own. Tremendous movie which would not get made today.
461. Mary Anne - 2012-06-08 03:39:41

My grandmother bought me my first Bobby Darin record called "Aint Sharin Sharon," only song with my name I ever heard. It started a love for Bobby Darin that has lasted all these years. I always saw his movies and saw them all especially remember those with Sandra Dee. Still smile each time I hear his voice as if he were singing just for me.
455. Tammy - 2012-05-18 20:34:56
I’ve never visited this site before. I’m not sure why. I’ve been such a big fan of Bobby’s my entire life. Many, many trips to work in the morning are made more pleasant by listening to Bobby’s CDs in my RAV. I also watch Bobby’s movies over and over again. My sister and I still use "Robert Swan" as a code name if we don’t want people to know who we’re talking about. I consider myself extremely fortunate that I was able to see him perform live in Las Vegas - I just wish I could remember every moment of the show, but unfortunately, some things get fuzzy with time. It’s a tragedy when the great ones leave us too soon. I hope we’ll be seeing Bobby on a U.S. postage stamp soon - I bet he’d get a kick out of that.
454. Bill Donovan - 2012-05-18 04:07:42
In Albany, New York, I bought my first record on 45 = "Mack the Knife." I grew up to be a DJ, a live, in-person performing dj. And i played it every time I performed, stating "This is the first record I ever bought." I also played "Splash," every night.
453. inara - 2012-05-16 18:08:06

449. Rhonda C. Poynter - 2012-05-14 06:38:52
I wanted to let Mr. Darin’s family know that I have finished my letter to the U.S. Postal Service, supporting the campaign for Bobby to be honored with his own postage stamp - I was a bit sidelined by my son having emergency brain surgery, but I am true to my causes and my heroes, and it is now officially done.I am also going to link it to my blog and my FB page in hopes of getting others to write their own letters - my best to Dodd and his family, and let’s get this done! =)
448. Karen B. - 2012-05-09 05:10:55

I fell in love with Bobby Darin when he had his TV show and signed off with Mack the Knife. Dream Lover is my number one favorite followed Mack the Knife and then You’re The Reason I’m Living. What a wonderful son he has in Dodd. I watch every video on You Tube I can find as one leads to another and yet another. What an amazingly talented man. He left us all with some of the finest music ever. God bless you Dodd. You favor him soooo much.

I¨m from Argentina. I didnt know who was Bobby Darin (I´m 40 years old) and yesterday night I saw the film performed by Kevin Spacey and I was flashed by his life and his music. What a pity he died so young!

416. Nancy Gray Prater - 2012-04-03 14:32:45
He makes each day brighter. I start off every morning watching him sing and dance around that stage! I know my husband of 45 years thinks I'm crazy but he loves me anyway. Bobby Darin, what talent!!! He will never fade, he will be entertaining for generations to come. My 15 year old granddaughter loves to watch his performances and the Bobby Darin and Sandra Dee movies with me! I have to thank them both for bonding the generations. A 15 yr old high school cheerleader spending Saturday with Nana watching movies etc..PRICELESS! Thanks to Dodd for keeping it all going for us and a special THANKS for the book. May the good Lord always watch over Dodd and his family.

Hi fellow Darin fans & friends. I’ve been visiting this site on & off since it’s early beginnings, but it’s been awhile.  Because of my deep admiration for Bobby Darin & this website, I’ve met & stayed connected with fellow Darin fans.  Bobby Darin has enriched my life greatly, & not a day goes by without something Bobby related that brightens my day.  I am grateful for Bobby Darin & this website  Wishing you all a very Darin day!
414. Rhonda C. Poynter - 2012-04-02 09:33:57
This is a return trip to your site for me, but I just wanted to add my thoughts, again, and let you know that Bobby’s fans are, in fact, loyal as the day is long and we’ll always be here. I’ve recently had some health issues and been sidelined, to a degree - in today’s world, when sidelined, start climbing through the internet and find hidden treasures, right? I have actually been coming across Youtube clips of Mr. Darin I’ve never seen, alternate versions of many of my favorite songs of his, I could go on and on. It just goes to show you that the web is in fact endless, and when you least expect it, you may hit the jackpot - oh, and I am in the final draft of my letter to the Advisory Committee requesting that they acknowledge Bobby with his own postage stamp. Dodd, your father’s music, acting and everything else he managed to do in such a short time has just brought me so much pleasure and peace that I truly wish that we, his fans, could do much, much more - I hope that we succeed with the postage stamp issue. Best to you and your family -

403. SKIP GOLDBERG - 2012-03-13 17:39:17

Wow !!! What a great singing voice he had. He left us too early as most often we say about about too many great people that have touched our lives in a small or big way!!!
Thank God for recordings that will live on and on forever!!! It is the gift of recorded music that keeps us going , even after great singers are no longer here with us on earth physically.
The sprit and music lives!!!!!!
Bobby I miss you I did not know you, but love your music!!!!
402. vicster - 2012-03-13 02:03:07
I don’t know why but I am really moved by the song "By the Sea". It got into my soul and it was so emotionally motivating to me.... OMG.. if Bobby Darin was alive today, I would have to become a groopie! I would not be ashamed about following this man around the world because I love what he left here on earth for us to remember of him!!!! Such truth in words and emotion! Such a wonder!
401. howard jones - 2012-03-12 10:59:35
Bobby was a great singer with so much flair and dynamism. The great backings supplied by Billy May and others didn’t hurt either.
400. Lewis Laing Bannister (Age:18) - 2012-03-11 22:10:12
I first heard him on my grandads phone as a ringtone which was beyond the sea and didn’t think much of it, then heard the same tune on the bioshock game so i asked my granddad who sung it and he said ’Bobby Darin’ years later and much searching the internet and having watched the Bobby Darin story, I find that when i think about it, he is my favorite singer/performer and my ipod jam packed with his music. He was a true great.
399. Zane Poulson - 2012-03-11 06:01:00
To this day I still greatly admire Bobby Darin. I was an extra in a 1961 movie entitled "Hell Is For Heros" which starred Steve McQueen. Bobby was also rolled in the movie and was very outgoing and down-to-earth. His fans were cheated by his untimely death.
God rest his soul.

I was "introduced" to Bobby Darin through the "Multiplication" single many, many years ago. I am a great fan of all his work. It is too bad he died much too early. I am happy for the opportunity to listen to many of his performances via youtube.
I love it.

Bobby has always been the best, the only one capable of interpreting all kinds of music with impressive dexterity.
Now that he's a legend became immortal. He has given so much, everything himself, all his talent ... The world would be better with him. Bobby, Thanks for all that you left us, we miss you so much. :’(

Bobby Darin was such a wonderful entertainer i loved his music. We listen to an oldies station in our area and when they play "Mack the Knife" by Bobby i crank it up, that song is the best. I was saddened when he passed away. The world lost so music talent and generosity of spirit.

384. Christos - 2012-02-28 00:27:16

Another forgotten super hero of pop and doo- wop, that moved many and is remembered by few.
A real showman to the end who worked with other giants and wrote really good songs-
--- what an epitaph! Even Presley could not do that!

Hello Dodd, I hope you have a chance to read this. Your Dad will be remembered for eternity - he was really a "suave" guy. What he accomplished in the time that was given to him will never be forgotten. God Bless!!

I have been listening to Bobby Darin singing for a very long time as I was born in ’46. I remember American Bandstand and was thrilled when Dick Clark had Bobby Darin on the show live. That was quite thrilling to a young kid. I am glad to have found this web site, and I feel very proud of Dodd for keeping his dads memory alive and where others can give there thoughts.

Wow, I was surprised to see that he frequented the China Song Restaurant. My dad worked in that restaurant as a waiter. It’s been closed for decades now, but the restaurant remains in my memory as the place my dad worked as I was growing up.

I saw Bobby at Freedom Land when I was a little girl (around 7 years of age). He was so handsome, and sexy. I was just reminiscing about that day and decided to punch in his name and I came upon this website. It is a wonderful tribute. I also used to pretend that I was Sandra growing up. These were my idols as a young girl.

My ex-husband would listen to Bobby’s songs for hours on end. It took me, born in ’67, awhile to catch on to the fact that I was listening to a master. What a fun, ambitious and sweet man! God bless you, Dodd. And bless the person taking care of this site. What a wonderful thing to do!

I don’t think I appreciated Bobby’s singing as much when I was younger. Of course there was splish splash and other songs but what a wonderful and beautiful voice he was blessed with. As a side note, I almost named my son Darin, but I didn’t, and later learned that his son was Dodd Darin and if I had named my son Darin it would have been Darin Dodd ;)
